Diabetic Diet
This is also known as the G.I. (Glycemic Index) Diet. This is based
on diabetes research and how different foods are converted into blood
sugar. There are lists published of different foods and what the
G.I. is for each. The slower food is converted to sugar, the
lower the G.I. Sweets like candy, deserts or soda's have higher
G.I.'s. Too many high G.I. foods will cause a roller coaster effect
with your blood sugar. When you eat sweets, it raises your blood
sugar sky high. Your body dumps insulin into your system. You
process the sugar, and your level plunges. Then your body demands
food again, and you tend to gorge yourself. Then you start over
again.
This diet takes this information and leads you to balance
your meals towards foods with low G.I.'s. The result of this is better
maintenance of your blood sugar. This helps prevent hunger pains
and cravings and you end up eating less. The number of calories your
body demands goes down. With some exercise and fewer calories, you can
loose weight.
